FLOWSIC ® patented shell and tube heat exchanger of 30,0 m2 for liquid/liquid exchange (Patent USA Nr.: US 6,904,959 B2)

FLOWSIC <sup>®</sup> patented shell and tube heat exchanger of 30,0 m2 for liquid/liquid exchange  (Patent USA  Nr.: US 6,904,959 B2) The silicon carbide heat exchanger represented in the photo was made for an international customer related to 2 heat recoveries where are requested high corrosion resistance, absence of metal releases and a separation room between the two process fluids.
Each separation room is fitted with a lateral threaded connection to monitor eventual leakage through an alarm or simply through a sight indicator.
The main components of the FLOWSIC® heat exchanger are:

  • shell according to norm TEMA type E, DN 16” x 3800 mm in CS PTFE lined

  • bundle composed of 176 silicon carbide Hexoloy ® SA SiC tubes diam. 14 x 1,5 mm x 4000 mm including baffles and spacers in PTFE

  • heads according to norm TEMA type AL, DN 16” in CS PFA lined

  • primary and compression tube-sheets in CS PFA lined

  • nr. 352 sealing packages each composed of double Kalrez ® Spectrum TM O-rings (for a total of nr. 704 O-rings) with PTFE intermediate sleeve


Both recoveries have been tested to our factory, with positive result, at 10 bar for 1 hour at the presence of a notify part, according to norm PED 97/23/CE - Category IV, module G.

Protef <sup>®</sup> DN 350 dosing vessel PFA lined with DIN 7081 longitudinal sight glasses The PN6 50 lt. dosing vessel represented in the photo was made for an Italian customer related to 12 units suitable for vacuum conditions.

The thickness of the PFA lining is about 11 mm; the resistance to vacuum is ensured by the thickness itself and by different anchorages obtained directly on the carbon steel body. The weight for the only PFA lining of each tube, without head and bottom flanges, is about 15 Kg.

Absolute word wide news: today vessels, separators, and ancillary equipments lined with PFA can be realized with longitudinal sights according to norm DIN 7081 from DN 100 / 4” to DN 350 / 14” class PN 6, PN 10 or ANSI 150.

The 12 dosing vessels have been tested to our factory, with positive result, at 10 bar for 10 minutes according to norm PED 97/23/CE - Category II, module H.

Flowtef <sup>®</sup> - Swing check valves SCF swing check valves represent a safe and practical solution to intercept corrosive fluids and are a valid alternative to the most common flanged ball check valves.
All the parts in cotact with the circulating fluid are PFA lined and assure an universal chemical resitance. The main advantages of the swing valves are:

    Dip-pipes with continous PTFE liner The new dip-pipes with continous PTFE liner, not welded at the end, are realized using a single liner that covers both internal and external side of the steel pipe.
    This execution is often preferred when high clean conditions are needed.
    Protef® dip-pipes with continuos liner are available up to 3200mm lenght, with steel or stainless steel pipes size up to Sch.40.

    Pipework and components lined in PP and PVDF

    Pipework and components lined in PP and PVDF In addition to standard PTFE and PFA lining, the Protef, Flowtef and Speed-Lock product ranges are also available with Polypropylene and PVDF linings.

    When used with compatible applications in terms of chemical resistance and temperature, they offer a superior resistance to permeation and a remarkable cost saving with respect to PTFE and PFA.

    Polypropylene is a thermoplastic polymer and has a good chemical resistance to aqueous solutions of inorganic salts as well as almost all inorganic acids and bases. Provided temperatures are limited to +107°C, the minimum temperature is -20°C. PP lined steel pipes and fittings are not subject to dimensional instability or cracks as some solid plastic systems moreover they do not suffer from aging due to UV rays and weather

    Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a thermoplastic fluoropolymer with excellent chemical resistance and in difficult services such as Phosgene, Chlorine, Bromine, give better service than either PTFE and PFA. Compared to these materials, PVDF also has a better resistance to abrasion, it can withstand temperatures up to +135°C, the minimum temperature is -12°C.
